Com Açúcar, Com Afeto by Teresa Garcia – This editorial design project holds a special place in my portfolio due to its deeply collaborative nature, combining the talents of multiple creatives and reflecting the heartfelt narratives behind each recipe. “Com Açúcar · Com Afeto” is more than just a cookbook—it’s a collection of family stories and memories shared through the art of baking. This project involved extensive work in both design and photography, as well as close collaboration with the book’s author, Teresa Garcia, and production by Rita Amaral Dias.
The visual identity and layout of the book were thoughtfully designed to convey the warmth and nostalgia associated with the recipes. Each spread balances mouthwatering photography by Ricardo Polónio with delicate illustrations by Margarida Gomes Mota, enhancing the storytelling aspect of each dish. The book’s design features a combination of rich reds and warm, muted tones, reflecting the emotional depth and homely feel of the content. This project culminated in the production of a cookbook that invites readers not only to recreate the delicious recipes, but also to partake in the shared experiences, personal histories, and love that each dessert represents.
